Session Facilitators

2010 session facilitators are:

Richard Cobden SC worked at a leading law firm in Sydney for many years before going to the Bar in 1992. He practices principally in the area of intellectual property and has appeared in a number of the leading cases in that field in recent years in the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia.  He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2005.

Scott Corish is a barrister at Forbes Chambers, Sydney, specialising in criminal law.

Matthew Sulman is a registered Australian & New Zealand Patent & Trade Marks Attorney and an intellectual property lawyer.  He deals with a wide range of intellectual property matters for clients including advising in respect of intellectual property protection strategies, drafting and prosecuting patent, design and trade mark applications in Australia and internationally, negotiating, drafting and enforcing licensing and royalty agreements, and conducts litigation when necessary to enforce and protect the rights of clients.  He has a particular interest in software and business method patents and the manner in which they permit owners to rapidly gain leverage in emerging cyber-electronic, biological and medical market segments.

Graham Bassett BA, Dip Ed, MInfoTech, LLB (Hons), practises as a barrister from Byron Bay Chambers. Recent IT/IP work included defending a moderator of an Internet forum for allegedly disclosing confidential documents, advising doctors on the implications of the General Public License on their practice software and enforcing trade mark rights in relation to Net sponsored links and meta tags. He runs the Southern Cross University course Information Tehcnology and the Law.  He is a member of the NSW Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal for the Northern Rivers.
